If you can't hear anything from your computer, the sound is usually going to a different device or is muted.
Try these steps
- Select the speaker icon near the clock and make sure the volume is up and not muted. Some laptops also have mute keys on the keyboard.
- Select the > arrow next to the volume slider and choose the device you want to hear sound from (laptop speakers, headset, or monitor speakers).
- If you're docked, sound may be going to your monitor. Choose your laptop speakers or headset instead.
- Check that external speakers are powered on and plugged in.
- Unplug any headphones or headset and plug them back in.
- Restart your computer.
Run the Windows sound troubleshooter
Right-click the speaker icon near the clock and select Troubleshoot sound problems. Follow the steps.
