You can reset your county (Microsoft/network) password yourself, any time, from any computer or phone. You'll need the phone you use with Microsoft Authenticator or the phone number you registered.
Reset your password
- On any computer or phone, open a web browser and go to https://aka.ms/sspr.
- Enter your county email address, type the characters shown, and select Next.
- Verify your identity using the method offered (Authenticator app, text message, or phone call).
- Enter a new password twice and select Finish.
Sign in to your computer with the new password
- In a county building: Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete and sign in with the new password.
- Working remotely: If your laptop won't accept the new password, sign in with your old password, connect to GlobalProtect, then press Windows key + L to lock the computer and unlock it with the new password. This syncs the new password to your laptop.
Password requirements
- 8 or more characters (recommended 14). 2 special characters, 2 Numbers, and 1 Capital Letter
- You can't reuse a recent password.
- Don't use your name or username.
Locked out again right after resetting?
A phone or another device is probably still trying your old password. On your county phone, open Outlook and Teams and sign in again with the new password. Also check any other computer you're signed in to.
Other systems
This resets your county network, email, and Microsoft 365 password. NCID, NC FAST, NCIR, Munis, CureMD and Laserfiche have their own passwords. See I can't sign in to NCID, NC FAST, or NCIR and Help with department applications.
Important: IT will never ask for your password. Never share it with anyone, including coworkers.
