Microsoft Teams won't open, won't sign in, or needs an update

Most Teams problems are fixed by fully quitting and restarting Teams, or by resetting the app. Classic Teams is no longer supported; you should be using the new Teams.

Quick fixes

1. Fully quit Teams: right-click the Teams icon near the clock and select Quit. Then reopen it.
2. Restart your computer.
3. Try Teams in a browser at https://teams.microsoft.com. If it works there, the problem is the app on your computer.

Reset the Teams app

1. Quit Teams.
2. Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
3. Find Microsoft Teams, select … > Advanced options.
4. Select Reset. Then open Teams and sign in again.

Teams says it's out of date, or you still have Classic Teams

If you see a message that Classic Teams is no longer supported, or that Teams needs an update, open Software Center and look for Microsoft Teams. If it isn't there, contact the Help Desk and IT will update it for you.

The Teams meeting link is missing from Outlook

Quit Teams and Outlook, open Teams first, wait for it to fully load, then open Outlook.
