If your desktop looks empty or reset after signing in, Windows may have loaded a temporary profile, or your files may be stored in OneDrive. Your files are usually still there.
"You've been signed in with a temporary profile"
- Don't save any new work on this computer yet. Files saved to a temporary profile can be lost when you sign out.
- Restart the computer and sign in again. This often fixes it.
- If the message comes back, contact the Help Desk. IT can restore your normal profile.
My desktop files are missing, but there was no temporary profile message
- Open File Explorer and open your county OneDrive folder and check Desktop. Your desktop may be stored in OneDrive.
- Click the OneDrive cloud icon near the clock and make sure you're signed in.
- If you're using a new or replacement computer, your files may not have been copied yet. Contact the Help Desk.
Outlook is stuck on "Loading Profile"
Wait a few minutes. If it doesn't finish, close Outlook (use Task Manager if needed), restart your computer, and try again. If it still gets stuck, see Outlook isn't working, isn't syncing, or I'm not getting email.
Important: To keep your files safe, save work to OneDrive, SharePoint, or a shared drive, not only on your computer.
