Shared network drives like the I: drive only work when you're on the county network or connected to GlobalProtect. If you can see the drive but get "Access denied," you need permission.
The drive is missing or shows a red X
- If you're working remotely, connect to GlobalProtect first (see GlobalProtect VPN isn't connecting).
- Open File Explorer and select This PC. Double-click the drive. It often reconnects on its own.
- Restart your computer while connected to the county network or GlobalProtect.
- If the drive still doesn't appear, contact the Help Desk.
"Access denied" or you need access to a folder
Submit a ticket at https://unioncountyit.zendesk.gov/hc/requests/new with:
- The full folder path (for example, I:\Department\Folder). In File Explorer, click the address bar to copy it.
- Whether you need read-only or edit access.
- Your supervisor's approval. Access to department folders must be approved.
After access is granted
Sign out of your computer and sign back in (or restart) so your new permissions take effect.
A file was deleted or saved over
Contact the Help Desk as soon as possible with the file name, folder path, and roughly when it changed. The sooner IT knows, the better the chance of recovering it.
