If your laptop won't power on or charge, the charger or dock is often the cause. Try these steps before submitting a ticket.
Try these steps
- Plug the charger directly into the laptop (not through the dock) and into a wall outlet you know works.
- Check both ends of the charger cable. Many chargers have a light that shows when they're getting power.
- Leave it plugged in for 15 minutes, then try to turn it on. A fully drained battery can take a while.
- Unplug everything except the charger, then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds. Release it and press it once normally.
- If the screen stays black but you hear the fan or see lights, press Windows key + Ctrl + Shift + B to restart the display.
