Adobe Acrobat Reader (free) lets you open, fill, and sign PDFs. Adobe Acrobat Pro (licensed) is needed to edit PDFs, combine files, and create fillable forms.
Do I need Acrobat Pro?
- Reader is enough to view, print, fill in forms, and sign PDFs.
- Acrobat Pro is needed to edit text, combine PDFs, reorder or delete pages, and create forms.
Request Acrobat Pro
Submit a ticket with your supervisor's approval and a short reason you need it. Pro requires a paid license. After IT assigns the license, open Acrobat, select Sign In, and use your county email address.
Combine PDFs (Acrobat Pro)
- Open Acrobat and select Tools (or All tools) > Combine files.
- Add the files, drag them into order, and select Combine.
- Save the new file.
PDFs open in the wrong program (like Edge)
- Right-click any PDF > Open with > Choose another app.
- Select Adobe Acrobat and select Always.
Acrobat won't open, or asks you to update or download something
- Don't download Adobe from websites or pop-ups. Close Acrobat and restart your computer.
- If Acrobat still won't open, or says it needs an update, contact the Help Desk. IT will update or reinstall it.
- Acrobat says you're not licensed? Sign out (Help > Sign Out) and sign back in with your county email.
