GlobalProtect connects your county laptop to the county network when you're outside a county building. You need it for shared drives and some applications when working remotely.
Connect to GlobalProtect
- Make sure you have internet first. Try opening a website.
- Click the GlobalProtect icon (a globe) near the clock at the bottom right. Click the ^ arrow if you don't see it.
- Select Connect. If asked, sign in with your county email and approve the request in Microsoft Authenticator.
- Wait until it says Connected.
It won't connect
- Disconnect, wait 10 seconds, and connect again.
- In GlobalProtect, select the menu (three lines or gear) > Refresh Connection.
- Restart your laptop, then connect again.
- At hotels, coffee shops, or other public Wi-Fi, open a browser and accept the Wi-Fi terms first. Some public networks block VPNs; a phone hotspot may work better.
- If you recently changed your password, see I'm locked out or forgot my password for how to sync it to your laptop.
Connected, but something still doesn't work
- Shared drives: open File Explorer > This PC and double-click the drive to reconnect it.
- Slow connection: close video streams and large downloads, and move closer to your router.
