Overview

Power BI Desktop allows users to create reports, dashboards, and data visualizations. It can be installed directly from the Microsoft Store on your computer.

Steps to Install Power BI

Step 1

Click the Start Menu.

Step 2

Search for and open Microsoft Store.

Step 3

In the search bar at the top of the Store window, type:

Power BI Desktop

Step 4

Select Microsoft Power BI Desktop from the search results.

Step 5

Click Install.

Step 6

Wait for the installation to complete.

Step 7

Click Open to launch Power BI Desktop.

Alternative Method: Launch After Installation

After installation, you can open Power BI by:

1. Clicking the Start Menu

2. Searching for Power BI Desktop

3. Clicking the application to launch it

First-Time Sign In

When opening Power BI for the first time, you may be prompted to sign in with your work account associated with Microsoft 365.

Troubleshooting

Microsoft Store Not Available

Some organizations restrict access to the Microsoft Store. If the Store is not available, contact the IT Helpdesk for installation assistance.

Installation Button Is Disabled

This may occur if:

• You are not signed into the Microsoft Store

• Your device does not allow Store installations

Application Not Found

Make sure you are selecting Microsoft Power BI Desktop and not other Power BI-related applications.
